•
Plan ahead. Visit
Red Self Storage to look at the different
sizes of units available, and to reserve a unit of the right size
for your items.
• Get your packing materials. To
order online and see a full list of our packing products go to our
online shop. You can also buy from our premises. •
Make sure you have enough packaging. Any left over will always come
in useful for something else. •
Think carefully and plan your packing, hurried packing can cause many
problems. • Only use Red
Self Storage boxes and packaging products or those of a similar quality. Cheap
boxes can mean expensive damage. •
Remember when you are packing you have to lift the box once it is
full. Heavy items should be packed separately in smaller boxes, this
will make your life a lot easier.
• Number your boxes and write a list of which items are stored in each box. That way if
you urgently need something that's stored you can find it straight
away. •
All glass or breakable goods should be wrapped in Red Self Storage
bubble wrap or similar.
• All dishes and crockery should
be wrapped in Red Self Storage tissue before final
wrapping in Red Self Storage bubble wrap, this will
prevent scratching.
• Clean all your garden equipment
before you store it to prevent corrosion. •
Legs of tables and chairs can be easily scratched, so why not protect
them with Red Self Storage bubblewrap or corrugated
cardboard?
• If you are storing clothes, buy
Red Self Storage wardrobe boxes. This will ensure
your clothes won't get ruined.
• When stacking your boxes in your
cabin, put heavy ones at the bottom and lighter ones on top. Those
you require access to more regularly should be stored towards the
door.
• Always try to seal soft furnishings
with Red Self Storage covers or similar to keep out
dirt and moisture during transit. •
Remember to defrost your fridge and refrigerator before storage and
leave doors open for 2-3 days prior to storage. You can imagine the
disaster of a defrosting fridge in your unit.
• And finally: try to make packing
fun. Involve the children and family. The task will be completed a
lot more quickly if you're having fun. |
